About this item
Raspberry Rosette Macroalgae
Raspberry Rosette Macroalgae (Botryocladia sp.) is one of the most visually extraordinary macroalgae available in the reef hobby — a rare Australian Botryocladia that takes the familiar grape-vesicle form and elevates it into something genuinely exceptional. Every stem is smothered end to end in dense, tightly packed oval vesicles arranged in lush rosette-like clusters — deep crimson red, jewel-like, and so densely layered that the overall effect is less like an alga and more like a living gemstone sculpture. There is simply nothing else in the hobby that looks quite like it.
Up close the detail is remarkable — each individual vesicle is a perfect deep red oval, smooth and slightly translucent, packed shoulder to shoulder with the next in a dense formation that catches and holds light in a way that photographs beautifully and stuns in person. Under blue and actinic lighting the crimson deepens and the vesicles take on a luminous, saturated quality that makes the entire specimen appear to glow from within. In flow the stems sway gently while the dense vesicle clusters hold their form — adding movement without losing any of the structural richness that makes this species so captivating.
Sourced exclusively from Australian waters and almost impossible to find in the hobby, Raspberry Rosette is a premium specimen that commands attention in any display system or dedicated macroalgae tank. It exports nutrients quietly and efficiently while delivering a visual impact that no other macroalgae can replicate.

- An accessible entry point into one of the rarest Australian macroalgae available in the hobby
2" Large Frag
- A larger cutting approximately 2" in length with more established vesicle density and structure
- Greater immediate visual impact — the full Raspberry Rosette form on display from day one
- Recommended for display tanks where immediate presence and impact matter

🔍 Aquarium Insights
- The dense rosette vesicle arrangement is completely unlike standard Botryocladia available in the hobby — this is a different species, a different form, and a dramatically different visual experience
- One of the best copepod refuges available — the dense interlocking vesicle structure provides unmatched shelter and surface area for beneficial microfauna
- A rare Australian collector's specimen that is virtually impossible to source outside specialist operations — functional, breathtaking, and genuinely one of a kind
