Scarlet Swords performs best in stable, established systems with consistent water parameters and gentle indirect flow. The individual blades are delicate — avoid strong direct flow which can damage or dislodge them over time. Keep away from aggressive herbivores including urchins and large tangs that will graze on the blades. As with all red macroalgae, supplement with iron and iodine as part of a regular micronutrient dosing schedule to maintain rich coloration. Handle gently during placement to avoid tearing the blades at the base.
