Special Considerations

Chalk Bass are reef-safe with corals but will actively hunt and consume small ornamental shrimp (sexy shrimp, small peppermint shrimp), small fish and fry, and beneficial microfauna including copepods and amphipods — plan the community carefully around this predatory behavior. Larger cleaner shrimp, snails, hermit crabs, and fish larger than the Chalk Bass's mouth are safe.
