About this item

24K Nephthea

24K Nephthea (Nephthea sp.) is one of the rarest and most sought-after colorforms in the soft coral hobby — a true collector's piece that earns its name. This extraordinary tree coral displays a rich, warm butter-yellow coloration that radiates like liquid gold under reef lighting, spreading its densely branched canopy wide in a low, sweeping form unlike any other Nephthea. Under a good reef light, it doesn't just sit in your tank — it glows.

Pure yellow Nephthea of this quality are exceptionally uncommon, and the intensity of the gold hue can deepen or shift subtly over time depending on your lighting spectrum, flow, and water parameters — making each specimen a dynamic and evolving centerpiece. No two tanks will show it quite the same way.

Despite its premium status, the 24K Nephthea is as hardy and adaptable as any tree coral in the genus. It grows readily, tolerates a wide range of reef conditions, and responds well to fragging — meaning that with patience, one colony can become many, each one just as valuable as the last.

Special Considerations

Nephthea thrives with good flow but may retract temporarily during acclimation — this is normal. Allow several days for the coral to settle and open fully. Avoid placing directly next to aggressive stony corals. Propagation is simple: clean cuts with sharp scissors will produce new frags quickly.

🔍 Aquarium Insights

24K Nephthea is a standout addition to any reef system:

  • One of the rarest Nephthea colorforms available — pure yellow specimens of this quality are exceptionally hard to source
  • Fast-growing and highly forgiving — delivers collector-grade color without collector-grade difficulty
  • Propagates readily from cuttings — each frag carries the full 24K coloration, making it highly valuable for trading
