The Frogspawn Coral (Euphyllia divisa / Euphyllia paradivisa) is one of the most beloved and instantly recognizable LPS corals in the entire saltwater hobby. Long, fleshy tentacles terminate in dense clusters of bubble-shaped tips that resemble a mass of frog eggs — the visual feature that gave this coral its name and made it one of the most photogenic Euphyllia species in the reef trade. Frogspawn comes in an extraordinary range of colors, from vivid green and gold to purple, orange, pink, and striking two-tone combinations like the classic green-body-with-pink-tip morphs, with every specimen bringing its own unique color signature to the display.

What makes the Frogspawn Coral one of the go-to LPS pieces for reef keepers is the combination of dramatic sweeping movement, iconic bubble-tip silhouette, and beginner-friendly hardiness. Frogspawn Corals and Hammer Corals are one of the most compatible coral pairings in the hobby — the two species can be placed directly alongside each other without stinging conflict, making the Frogspawn-and-Hammer combination the classic foundation of any Euphyllia garden display. Special Considerations

Frogspawn Corals extend long sweeper tentacles at night that can sting neighboring non-Euphyllia corals. Provide adequate spacing — at least 4–5 inches from non-Euphyllia corals in all directions. Frogspawn can be placed directly alongside other Euphyllia species (Torches, Hammers, other Frogspawn) without stinging conflict, making them ideal for building a full Euphyllia garden. Avoid direct, high-velocity flow which can stress the tissue and prevent full polyp extension. Feed with mysis, small pieces of shrimp, or coral feeding preparations 1–2 times per week to support growth and color saturation. Maintain stable alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium levels, and avoid sudden changes in flow, lighting, or chemistry. Brown jelly disease is an occasional risk in the Euphyllia family; handle tissue carefully and maintain excellent water quality at all times.
