Special Considerations

Condy Anemones are NOT a natural clownfish host species. Because Condys originate from the Caribbean and clownfish are Indo-Pacific species, they never coexist in the wild — Condys do not recognize clownfish as symbionts and will typically sting and consume any clownfish that attempts to enter the tentacles. Do not purchase this anemone with the intent of pairing it with clownfish. Condy Anemones have a potent sting that will catch and consume any small fish, shrimp, crabs, and small invertebrates that swim into contact with the tentacles — plan tankmate stocking accordingly, with only larger, faster-moving fish appropriate for the same system. Condys tend to be more actively wandering than BTAs and may move throughout the aquarium until they find preferred lighting and flow conditions. Provide multiple potential attachment points with rock crevices for the foot. Cover all powerhead and pump intakes before introduction, as wandering anemones can be drawn into unprotected pumps. Feed twice weekly with meaty foods to support growth and color, and use gloves when working near the anemone — the sting can cause skin reactions in humans.
