⚠️ A TIGHT-FITTING TANK LID OR COVER IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL — Redfin Fairy Wrasses (and all Cirrhilabrus species) are expert jumpers and will jump from open-top aquariums, often within days of introduction. This is the number one cause of loss for fairy wrasses in home aquariums and is completely preventable with proper tank coverage. Use screen tops, glass covers, or mesh netting to fully enclose the tank surface with no gaps larger than the fish before adding any fairy wrasse. Provide a minimum 55-gallon aquarium with plenty of open swimming room across the length of the tank and abundant live rock hiding spots for security — fairy wrasses need retreat spaces to feel safe and will often sleep between rocks in a natural mucus cocoon (this is normal Cirrhilabrus behavior and not a sign of illness).
