The Six-Line Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus hexataenia) is one of the most vibrantly colored, hardworking, and popular small wrasses in the entire saltwater hobby. A brilliant orange body streaked with six electric blue horizontal lines running head to tail creates one of the most photogenic and instantly recognizable color patterns of any reef fish — a fast-moving flash of orange and blue that darts through the rockwork and adds constant motion and color to any reef system. Compact, energetic, and full of personality, the Six-Line brings both visual impact and genuine biological utility to the tank.

What makes the Six-Line Wrasse one of the most valuable reef additions is its active hunting behavior. Six-Lines are one of the few reef-safe fish that actively hunt and consume common aquarium pests including bristleworms, pyramidellid snails, flatworms, and small parasitic copepods — providing real biological pest control while looking stunning in the process. Special Considerations

Six-Line Wrasses become increasingly territorial and semi-aggressive as they mature — plan tank pairings carefully. Six-Lines will harass smaller, shyer, or slower-moving tankmates including other small wrasses, gobies, dartfish, pipefish, and mandarin dragonets. Do not house with pipefish, mandarins, or other slow-eating specialist fish — the Six-Line will outcompete them at feedings and can cause chronic stress. Provide abundant rockwork with hiding places and add the Six-Line to the tank later in the stocking order to prevent it from establishing dominant territory before other fish are introduced. Six-Lines will consume beneficial copepods and amphipods from refugium populations; keep this in mind if you rely on natural pod cultures for other livestock. Reef-safe with corals and invertebrates. Avoid copper-based medications, and provide a tight-fitting lid — Six-Lines are known jumpers.
